Here are some things you may want to ask a recruiter who is interested in you, attending their school. Don’t hesitate to ask questions that may concern you. There is no such things as A STUPID QUESTION, don’t forget to make notes as you go through this. One question may lead to another; make sure you write your follow up questions down so you don’t forget. Remember no matter what any one tells you according to the NCAA there are no such thing as a guaranteed 4-year scholarship!! Their offer to you is a year-to-year contract with the school of your choice, if you have questions contact the NCAA for additional information.

Will the school be there to support the student athlete when more is required? I.e. extra help with schoolwork, help with registration for school, flexible class time?
 
 
Is there a full time academic advisor on staff, if so what are there duties?
 
 
Is there a mandatory study hall for all athletes, with computers labs, tutors, and tech support readily available?
 
 
 
Is study hall in force for the whole year, or just the season the student athlete is participating? 
 
 
How closely do you monitor the academic progress of the athletes?
 
 
Is campus wireless?
 
 
What kind of reputation does this school have for preparing the student in their field of study?
 
 
 
Can you receive the kind of education that will allow the athlete to be a well qualified Candidate in the work force, i.e. some school district {PATTONVILLE} require a certain college gpa. for employment as a teacher?
 
 
Some schools offer master’s degrees in 5 years do you have any programs like that at your institution?
 
 
What positions are you recruiting the student athlete for?
 
 
 
Any chance you would change this recruits position, if so what position would you move them to, and how would it impact their chances of playing?
 
 
 
How many scholarships does your school receive, how many are allocated at this time (how many seniors are leaving the program)? 
 
 
How many scholarship players are currently on the roster that play the position this student athlete plays, and what class are they?
 
 
Do you have any transfers, or juco players in the program, if so what is the total number, and how many play this student athletes position what’s the depth chart like for this position?
 
 
 
 
Do you have to split scholarship money to cover all athletes, how many players are non-scholarship?
 
 
 
Are you offering a full, or partial scholarship?
 
 
Will there be any academic money available, if so how much will account for student athletes award package, and what will the total award offer were?
 
 
Is the academic package renewable, and how is it tied to academic performance?
 
 
What is not covered by this offer?
 
 
 
Who is responsible for getting the student athlete to school i.e. plane, train, bus, and cab?
 
What is required of us as parents?
 
 
Is there summer school/camp, and when would you report?
 
 
Who would pay for the summer program?
 
 
 
 
 
Will the school financially cover, and oversee treatment and rehab of the student athletes if injured?
 
 
 
 
Under what circumstance does the school cover the player?
 
 
 
What happens if a player is hurt or can't play anymore will the school keep the scholarship on the table? (If the recruiter’s answer is yes ask would they sign a document to that effect).
 
 
 
Does the school have a program in place to take care of that, with an administrative scholarship?
 
Some schools have promised that player performance on the field will not affect the athletic scholarship offer, is that the case with your school?
 
 
 
Will you leave your offer on the table no mater what happens on the field performance wise? 
 
 
How many players on scholarship last year did not have their scholarship renewed?
 
 
What is your graduation rate, how many kids graduated in the last 3 years?
 
How many players left the program, or didn't graduate in the last 3 years?
 
 
How long do players have to finish school 4 or 5 years, how do you determine who gets a red shirt?
 
 
Are you projecting this player as a red shirt?
 
 
Where are players housed on campus, or off campus?
 
 
Are players assigned roommates that play the same sports for convenience? 
 
 
What kind of off-season commitments will be required i.e. mandatory lifts, running, etc?
 
 
 
Safety of the campus i.e. robbery, assault, rapes?
 
 
 
What are the general team rules for off-season and during season?
 
 
 What can get you dismissed from the team?
 
 
 
 
 
 
Is there any special assistance with job placement after school?
 
 
What type of opportunities is there for graduate assist work after players are done?
 
 
Does the school have hobbies, or special interest groups you might want to join?
 
 
 
Any relatives, friends, and support people who live close the school?
 
 
How far is the school from your home, can your family travel to watch you play?
 
 
What type of internet, or closed circuit TV is in place for friends an family to watch games. Is there a cost, and do I need any special equipment for viewing?
    
 
Do you strongly suggest players attend, or spend time during the summer at school?
 
 
Look at social aspects of the school things to do i.e. size of the city, hunt, fish, run, shop, theaters, travel, music clubs, site see etc cbh.
 
 
Talk with the athletic director about any concerns you may have when you visit the school
